We have to pay attention to many things in our lives. We detect changes that occur.

Today’s question:
Are we always able to notice changes?
Sometimes we are very poor at detecting changes. Researchers wanted to know what sort of changes we can detect. They created an experiment by having an actor ask people for directions. As they talked, the actor was replaced by another actor. The switch was hidden from view when two workers carrying a large board walked by. The people were asked if they noticed anything wrong.

This is what they found:
People were not able to notice that the person they talked to was someone else.
