Working with people with similar backgrounds. We often work with people who have the same knowledge as us. Trust is important to have at work with people.
Do we trust these people more because they have the same background?
No, you are less likely to trust a co-worker that has a similar background like yours. Researchers had similar people working together in a class.
This is what they found:
They found that people with similar job backgrounds were less likely to trust each other. They were more willing to trust those with different backgrounds. People may feel jealous or threatened by a person with the same background. The good thing is this distrust goes away with time.
Work with others and show them how you are different!
We often see characters in movies blowing cars up by throwing a lit match or firing a bullet at the gas tank. If cars exploded so easily, wouldn’t we have a stricter policy on cigarettes at gas stations? With all the careless smokers on earth, everyone would have to be strip-searched for matches and lighters prior to approaching the gas pump the way airports scan us before we reach the gate.

Chameleons change colors according to their surroundings. This I thought was true. As a kid, I was told that chameleons change colors in order to blend in and hide from their predators. Even the Disney movie “Monsters, Inc.” had a scene with a chameleon practicing its color-changing skills in front of different backgrounds.
