Today’s topic:
We feel nervous when we do something in front of others. We often like to have friends support us. We think that they will make us perform better.

Today’s question:
Is it better to have your friends, family and co-workers watch you perform?
Not always. Researchers used an experiment to find out. They had students perform an easy task in front of strangers and people they knew. They had students perform a hard task in front of strangers and people they knew.

This is what they found:
Students performed well in front of all people when they did an easy task. They performed a lot less well on a hard task with people they knew. They performed better on a hard task with strangers.

Today’s advice
If you want to perform well, think about doing it well and ignore the people watching you.
