This I Thought was True
A Tiny Spark Would Make A Car Explode

A tiny spark would make a car explode. This I thought was true. We often see characters in movies blowing cars up by throwing a lit match or firing a bullet at the gas tank. If cars exploded so easily, wouldn’t we have a stricter policy on cigarettes at gas stations? With all the careless smokers on earth, everyone would have to be strip-searched for matches and lighters prior to approaching the gas pump the way airports scan us before we reach the gate. Car crashes happen all the time, but when was the last time you saw a report on an exploding car on the news? It is actually very hard for a car to explode, that’s why movies hire stunt teams to make it happen. They use explosives and special machines that throw cars into the air because they know a bullet will not do the trick.
